About Us

Our story

What started off as school-drop-off mom talk quickly turned into real friendship, spontaneous “YES!” adventures, and a shared love for getting on the water. We enjoyed laughing, talking and taking a break from our jobs and our all-boy families (7 collectively!) when we realized how calm but energized, connected and free we felt.

That’s how the idea of Soggy Bottom Paddlers began. And then we traveled with other women-only groups meeting the most amazing humans who shared their experiences, joy and love of the water.

“We HAVE to share this feeling with more women.”

Not just the paddling — the giggles, the connection, the “why is my butt soaked?” moments that somehow make life feel lighter.

Now we’re a crew of women who share our home waterways and explore new ones, laugh until our sides hurt, cheer each other on, and occasionally paddle in the completely wrong direction.

So come join the Soggy Bottom girls.

We promise you’ll leave a little wet, a little sun-kissed, and a lot more connected than when you showed up.

See you on the water — soggy bottoms welcome! 🚣‍♀️💦

We take kayaking SERIOUSLY - with our soggy bottoms and all!

Kay Seibert

I’m a recently retired professional whose career has spanned both the education and entertainment worlds, with roles in group sales, ticketing, special events, student services, and program management. Planning and producing experiences for all kinds of audiences has always been second nature to me—but what I didn’t expect was how much my own life would be transformed by discovering kayaking (and craft beer!) during COVID. Finding something new that brings me joy later in life—alongside my love for music and my family—was a surprise in itself.

When I began organizing these travel adventures, I thought the best part would be the planning—I love spreadsheets, logistics, and learning to build a website. But I was completely wrong.

The true magic has been in the women these trips bring together. Every journey introduces me to vibrant, inspiring, and deeply interesting women whose stories stay with me long after the trip ends. It’s those connections, those shared laughs and meaningful moments, that have touched my heart the most. I feel incredibly honored to be part of it all—and truly couldn’t be happier.

I’m a glass-half-full kind of woman—okay, more like “grab another paddle and fill it up” energy. I’m a mom of four amazing boys, so life has been equal parts chaos, laughter, and a whole lot of snacks. I’m also one of five siblings, which means connection, storytelling, and just enough friendly chaos have always been part of my DNA.

While I’ve spent 30 years running a consulting firm, my heart has always belonged outside. I grew up hiking, spelunking, rock climbing, camping, and canoeing—if it involves fresh air, muddy shoes, or a little adventure, I’m in. I’ve also spent years as a scout leader, guiding kids through the wild, and somewhere along the way realized I love bringing people together just as much as I love being outside.

These days, that love shows up in two places that feel a lot like home. Through Soggy Bottom Paddlers, I get to help people reconnect—with nature, with each other, and with a version of themselves that’s a little braver and a lot more joyful. And through HERverse, I’m passionate about elevating women—especially those behind-the-scenes leaders—helping them step into their voice, their influence, and their full capacity.

What lights me up most? Women. Real conversations, big laughs, meaningful connection, and memories that stick. At this stage of life, I’m all about choosing joy, chasing adventure, and surrounding myself with women who want to do the same—preferably near water, with a paddle in hand
